Welcome to Our World!

HollywoodPaws' Monthly Workshop

Space is limited for this accelerated six-day program

You are invited to attend HollywoodPaws' Annual Workshop and Seminar at Los Angeles Center Studios. Whether you want to train dogs for movies and television or just teach yours to be a well-behaved member of the household, this is the only program of its kind. It covers the ins and outs of animals in the entertainment industry, beginning to advanced training, and careers in the $54 billion dollar pet industry.

This program is perfect for owners of talented pets, but it's also ideal for anyone interested in a career working with animals. Become a trainer for movies and television, an obedience instructor, a pet nutritionist, or work in pet merchandising and retail. You could venture into grooming, boarding, doggie day-care, veterinary care, working with therapy service dogs or wildlife outreach. We can even show you how to launch your own pet-related business! The program fee can be applied towards the purchase of a HollywoodPaws license in your area.

We're delighted to call Los Angeles Center Studios our home. LACS is L.A.'s premier independent studio, featuring 450,000 square feet of production and office space, six state-of-the-art soundstages and a backlot with numerous locations - including a dog park! We're thrilled to rank among the top entertainment-industry service providers on its campus. On any given day, production crews can be seen filming movies and even scouting for stars. With neighbors like Mad Men,The Acme Network, NUMB3RS, Women's Murder Club, and the Reelz Channel, you never know what might happen. One HollywoodPaws student, Pamela Agramont, was leaving an HP photo shoot with her pooch, Lady, when she was asked to appear as an extra on NBC's Law and Order. You could be next!

Our workshop will be presented by top studio trainer Joel Norton. A graduate of Cal Poly Pomona and Moorpark's Exotic Animal Training and Management Program, Joel has worked at the L.A. Zoo and Universal Studios' live animal show, on Disney's Air Buddies, Lassie's Vet, the feature film Stiletto, the MTV Series NEXT, Animal Planet's Pet Finder and The Florence Henderson Show, and done commercials for Orkin, MSN, Burger King, AOL and more.

Dog Training

Why should I train my dog?

Even if you aren't planning to turn your dog into a movie star, you’re still going to want a well-mannered and well-trained pet.  That perfect, naturally potty-trained dog who never does anything wrong is rare indeed.  Dog house training will give you a very well-behaved pet and will help forge a strong, trust-based bond between you and your pet.

Why is it important for the owner to train the dog, rather than just send the dog off for training?

Any good professional trainer can train a dog. But as the person living under the same roof with the animal, the owner will need to reinforce the training.  Imagine getting a car without having any idea how to drive it, rather than taking a Driver’s Education course first.

How do I handle dog behavior problems?

Most pet behavior problems result from a lack of consistency and discipline in the home. Like kids, dogs need to know their boundaries; when we coddle our pets and fail to hold them to consistent rules, they get confused and act out – expressing their desire for clearly defined limits. HollywoodPaws classes help address these dog behavior issues.  It all boils down to being the alpha dog in your home and giving your dog fair, consistently applied rules and boundaries.
